Enjoy Your Art

WIP - March 2, 2025

Have you ever been reccomended The War of Art by Stephen Pressfeild? It's broadly and highly reccomended as a motivational self help book for "creatives". If you've never read it, then count yourself lucky. After seeing so many praises of this book, I decided to read it, having low expectations, because most self help books say almost nothing. If only it did say nothing! This book is actively poisonous, anti-human, and will likely do spiritual damage to anyone who reads it.

None of the 1 star reviews on goodreads do it justice. I think the kind of thinking in this book has poisoned our entire culture.

Creativity is a source of joy, not a never ending battle of pain and suffering.

Also, please do not ever ask random spirits to enter your body so that you can give "birth" to some kind of "great work". That is a very bad idea.

Your daydreams about acheiving something great are NOT proof that you were put on earth to perform a great work. I think that almost everyone daydreams. Daydreams proove nothing. Pressfeild's concept of "Resistance" prooves nothing. Sometimes daydreams are maladaptive. Let go of the burden.

Enjoy life. Enjoy your work. Art is more like a garden. Not a battlefield where lives are destroyed.

You are enough.

Until next time!

(I will probably write more later, as well as make this a bit more coherrent)
